Labette Community College Foundation Presents Ed Asner as FDR: A play by Dore Schary
The
Labette Community College Foundation and The Theatre Guild are excited to
announce Ed Asner as FDR: A play by Dore Schary. This play is presented by
the Jack and Ruth Gribben Endowment Fund through the LCC Foundation. It will
be Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Parsons Municipal Auditorium. Showtime
will be 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
Ed Asner, recipient of seven Emmy Awards (Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant) and 16 nominations, five Golden Globe Awards, and member of the TV Academy Hall of Fame, will star in the solo performance drama, “FDR,” based on Dore Schary’s Broadway hit “Sunrise at Campobello,” which ran 70 weeks on Broadway.
FDR explores the life of one of America’s best-loved presidents and the events and decisions that shaped a nation. This powerful play follows the iconic president as he reflects on his years in office, from inauguration to the trials of World War II.
The Theatre Guild, Inc. has produced hundreds of plays on Broadway. Notable productions include Porgy and Bess, The Philadelphia Story, Oklahoma!, and Carousel. Tour direction is through Windwood Theatricals.
