Alex Coplon begins his second season as the assistant coach for the LCC baseball program in 2014-2015. As a player for the Cardinals, he set the new school record for single season saves while garnering first team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference honors as a sophomore in 2011. He finished his athletic career at the University of Central Oklahoma (NCAA DII).
A standout at Claremore High School (OK), Coplon set the single season record for innings pitched with 113 as a senior in 2009. Also during that season he was named first team Oklahoma All-State, first team All-Tulsa World, and the Northeastern Oklahoma Pitcher of the Year. His father, a former 17th round draft pick by the Houston Astros, pitched for the Cowboys at Oklahoma State University, helping them to two College World Series appearances and Big 8 Conference Championships.
Coplon earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2013 and currently resides in Parsons.
