Labette Community College (LCC) proudly announces that the 2024 Radiography Program graduates have achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination. This milestone marks the ninth consecutive year that LCC graduates have accomplished this outstanding feat.

Labette Community College offers an intensive 23-month program in Radiography, culminating in an Associate Degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.). The program is meticulously designed to equip men and women with the necessary skills and knowledge to become proficient radiographers (x-ray technologists), thereby addressing the healthcare needs of Southeast Kansas and the surrounding regions. The curriculum blends rigorous academic coursework with hands-on clinical experience, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to provide quality, professional patient care in a constantly evolving healthcare landscape.

Upon successful completion of the two-year program, students are awarded an A.A.S. degree in Radiography and become eligible to take the National Radiographer Examination administered by the ARRT. This exam is a critical step in the certification process, and the 100% pass rate is a testament to the high caliber of education and training provided by LCC.

"Achieving a 100% pass rate on the ARRT exam for nine consecutive years is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, and staff," said Dr. Jason Sharp, Vice President Academic Affairs. "Our program is committed to excellence in education and to preparing our students to meet the demands of the healthcare industry."

LCC's Radiography Program not only prepares students for immediate entry into the workforce but also encourages further education in specialized fields such as Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Sonography. Additionally, graduates have the option to pursue higher educational degrees for career advancement in administration, education, or as a radiologist assistant.

"The radiography program director, faculty, and staff have an unwavering commitment to our students' success," said Sharp. "Their dedication to providing top-tier education and support is truly remarkable and is reflected in our students' continued outstanding achievements. The national average pass rate is 84.4% so having nine years of 100% pass rates is truly incredible"

The state-of-the-art simulation center at LCC has been instrumental in promoting hands-on learning and teamwork among LCC students. "We are immensely grateful to all the donors who provided funds for our simulation center," said Gale Brown, Program Director of the Radiography Program. "This cutting-edge facility, equipped with the latest technology, allows our students to enhance their clinical and procedural skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. This learning environment has been crucial in helping us prepare students for real-world healthcare challenges."

Brown added, "I am incredibly proud of our students' accomplishments. Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their studies have truly paid off. Seeing them excel and achieve a 100% pass rate on the ARRT exam for the ninth year in a row is a moment of immense pride and joy for all of us at LCC."

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national median annual wage for radiologic technologists and technicians was $73,410 in May 2023. The job outlook for this profession is highly favorable, with growth expected to surpass that of many other occupations.
