LCC Hosts 43rd Annual Fire School

February 27, 2025

PARSONS, KS – The Workforce Education Department at Labette Community College (LCC) is proud to host the 43rd Annual Fire School on March 8-9, 2025. For over four decades, LCC has provided continuing education for both full-time and volunteer firefighters, offering hands-on training and coursework led by industry experts.

This year’s training sessions will be conducted by representatives from area fire departments, Fools of Oz, Nelms Fire Company, MV Fire & Rescue, and more. The event will feature keynote speaker Mark Misek, Captain at the Wichita Fire Department, who will present on the importance of mental resilience in firefighting. His session, based on personal experiences, will address how stress and strain can impact firefighters over time and provide strategies to sustain their passion for the job.

The two-day training includes essential hands-on training such as water drafting, interior firefighting, search and rescue, and two live burn classes. Sessions are designed for both career and volunteer firefighters, with opportunities to fulfill continuing education requirements.
