Labette Community College Announces Presidential Candidates and Invites the Community to Engage
Parsons, KS – Community members and LCC employees are encouraged to take part in an opportunity to engage with our Presidential Candidates during a series of public forums on January 7, 2026, at the Cardinal Event Center. These forums provide a chance to hear directly from the candidates and ask questions about their vision and leadership.
The external public forums are open to all community members and campus employees.
11:30-12 p.m. with Dr. Jason Sharp and 4:00-4:30 p.m. with Dr. Boomer Appleman.
Internal employee forums will be held from 11:00–11:30 a.m. with Dr. Jason Sharp and 3:30–4:00 p.m. with Dr. Boomer Appleman.

Dr. Jason Sharp
Dr. Jason Sharp has been with LCC for 17 years, currently the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Previous roles include Dean of Instruction, Adjunct Instructor for LCC, Chief of Police for the city of Parsons, and a Law Enforcement Coordinator and Instructor for Missouri Southern and the University of Missouri. Dr. Sharp believes in the importance of being an engaged and visible leader that fosters a culture of excellence and accountability.
Dr. Boomer Appleman
Dr. Boomer Appleman has worked in higher education for the last 25 years, currently the Vice President for Student Services at San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico. Prior to relocating, Dr. Appleman hailed from Oklahoma serving as the Dean of Students at Northern Oklahoma College and the Assistant Vice President for Student Development at East Central University in Oklahoma. Dr. Appleman believes he has a deep appreciation for the unique mission of rural community colleges and the role they play in transforming lives.
