President of Labette Community College
The Board of Trustees of Labette Community College invites applications for the position of President. The college’s current President has announced his retirement, and the successful candidate will be expected to begin duties on or before July 1, 2026.
Founded in 1923 and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, LCC serves residents of Labette and Cherokee counties in southeast Kansas. Labette County has a population of approximately 19,700 friendly people and is within an easy drive of several metropolitan and major recreation areas. The college is located in Parsons, which was established in 1871. The campus, located near the center of town, sits adjacent to the city park. The LCC Cherokee Center location was established in 2008 and is conveniently located on the border of Cherokee and Crawford counties. In the academic year 2024-2025, student enrollment reached 2,134 students, and the college has an enrollment-driven budget of $14 million. LCC provides 25 academic programs and 6 technical certificates. This includes top-ranking health science programs, career technical education, concurrent courses, as well as unique cooperative programs with area businesses and workforce education. The college offers 4-day class schedules and averages a 14 to 1 student to faculty ratio.

The Board seeks a visionary, involved leader with a high level of integrity and excellent leadership skills. This is someone who is involved, fair, timely with decisions, and appreciative of the expertise of faculty and staff. This person must be dynamic, build consensus among staff and the community at large, and successfully implement decisions. The next president of LCC must be a student-oriented person who is committed to providing learning opportunities in a supportive environment for success in a changing world. Finally, the president will be proactive, anticipating the need for change, and continue to enhance LCC’s standing as an exceptional college by striving for excellence in all its programs, services, and activities.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
The President is responsible for all matters pertaining to the leadership and management of the College. This position serves as the Chief Executive Officer and administers the comprehensive community college programs in accordance with the objectives of the Board of Trustees and the college’s policy and procedures. The President must possess the ability to represent the college at conferences, meetings, community activities, and other related events.
Required qualifications include a master’s degree, three years of administrative experience at the Dean/Provost level or higher, experience working in a community college and with curriculum development, a resident of Labette County, Kansas, or the ability to relocate, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include holding a doctorate degree, previous teaching experience and fundraising experience.
