Case Management promotes student success and retention, reduces risk, and enhances overall community well-being and safety by identifying needs, removing barriers, leveraging resources, and fostering self-efficacy for students.

Labette Community College has a full-time non-clinical Case Manager available to work with students to coordinate prevention, intervention, and support efforts for students facing crises, life traumas, and other barriers to success. The case manager does not provide mental health diagnosis or treatment. The Case Manager is located in the Student Success Center, room L107B.

Students can call 620-820-1254 to make an appointment with the Case Manager or walk in anytime during regular college business hours.

Case Management is here to provide students with access to services and resources that can help with nonacademic challenges.  Student participation in these services is confidential. (The only exception is if there is an indication a student plans to hurt themselves or someone else.) To access any of the services listed on this page, please contact Regina Decker at 620-820-1254 or reginad@labette.edu or stop by her office in the Student Success Center, room 107B.

If you know a student that could use a little extra help, please fill out this form and the Case Manager will reach out to them.

If you or someone you know needs immediate mental health assistance call the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 – 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to speak with a trained crisis counselor.

Services & Support

The following services and support are available for all students at no cost, regardless of the number of hours or classes they are enrolled in.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out for support. We are here to help.

ONE TO ONE SUPPORT

School can be stressful, you don’t have to handle it all alone. The Case Manager is here for informal support if you want to talk about what’s happening in your life, without pressure to “fix it”, or if you want more information about any of the services listed on this page. The information shared with the case manager is confidential.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

LCC has a partnership with the Labette Center for Mental Health Services to provide students with access to a qualified counselor or therapist. LCC will cover the cost of three visits, if the student does not have medical insurance, or cover the cost of co-pays for three visits for students with insurance. Appointments can be arranged to take place at either the Mental Health center or on campus in the Student Success Center. Transportation from campus to the center is also available by appointment.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT

LCC has a partnership with Family and Children’s Services of the Delaware Tribe to offer support to students experiencing domestic violence at no cost to the student. Services include but are not limited to applying for a Protection from Abuse, creating a safety plan or offering emotional support. A  representative of the program is on campus one day a week or by appointment. Students do not need to be a member of the tribe to access this service.
If you are in crises you can contact a domestic violence victim advocate at 918-331-7349.

HUNGER AND FOOD SUPPORT

The Case Management team operates the LCC Student Pantry, where students can shop once per week for up to 10 items. The pantry carries both perishable and non-perishable items and is open to all enrolled students (full and part time), during the months that school is in session. The pantry is located at 1225 Broadway, and open from 12:00-1:00 Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is also open by appointment. The LCC Student Pantry is partially funded through a grant from the Parsons Area Community Foundation and partners with the Kansas Food Bank to provide items.

HYGIENE AND TOILETRIES SUPPORT

LCC partners with the Care Cupboard in Parsons to provide basic hygiene and toiletry items to students at no cost, once per month. The program is administered through the First Baptist Church. Students fill out a form at the student pantry to order the items they need. The items can be picked up at the Care Cupboard during their monthly distribution, or arrangements can be made to pick them up at the pantry during regular operating hours. Items available include soap, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper and laundry soap.

FINANCIAL EMERGENCY SUPPORT

Cardinal Kindness is an emergency fund for students who encounter unforeseen financial emergencies. This fund is administered through the LCC Foundation. Students may apply for funds once per academic year to use toward expenses that might prevent a student from being able to continue with school. For example, Cardinal Kindness might be able to provide help with transportation costs for students that commute to campus. Cardinal Kindness is funded through donations from community members and organizations, staff and faculty and the Parsons Area Community Foundation.

QUIET ROOM

Labette Community College is committed to creating a safe campus environment. To further this goal, we have created a Quiet Room on campus that can be used as a distraction free space for people to sit and contemplate, to pray, recover from a traumatic life event such as bereavement, to engage is telehealth, or support distressed students. The room is located in Hughes 106 and can be accessed during regular campus hours. Planned access can be scheduled by contacting the case manager.  To access the room during unexpected events, activate the doorbell on the handle; staff can open the door remotely.
