Event to Feature Conference Basketball Games, Mascot Reveal, and Community Fun

January 17, 2024

Parsons, KAN. — Labette Community College is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Cardinal Madness on Wednesday, January 22, at the Zetmeir Family Athletic Complex. This event will mark the start of spring semester courses and celebrate the beginning of conference basketball season. It promises to be an evening full of high-energy basketball, school spirit, and exciting surprises for the entire LCC community.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the LCC Women’s Basketball Team facing off against Neosho County Community College. Following the women’s game, the LCC Men’s Basketball Team will take the court at 7:30 p.m., also battling Neosho County in what is sure to be a thrilling matchup. Fans are invited to show their support by filling the stands with school pride.

In addition to the basketball games, the evening will feature the reveal of Caroline the Cardinal, the newest member of the LCC mascot family, during halftime of the women’s game. The idea for Caroline started with the LCC Spirit Squad. Next, LCC graduate, Hayden Bennett, created the original design by drawing inspiration from Chris the Cardinal and LCC cheerleading uniforms. From Bennett’s design, a company specializing in custom mascot suits, produced the Caroline suit. The entire LCC campus is buzzing with excitement in anticipation of Caroline officially “hatching” to join Chris the Cardinal and bring even more school spirit to the campus.
