Parsons, KS – Community members are invited to attend Hear the Elders Speak, a special event celebrating Black history in Parsons.

The event will take place on Thursday, April 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Parsons High School Community Room. During the program, featured speakers Skip Smith, Gerald Holland, and Debbo Johnson will share stories and insights highlighting the rich history and experiences of the Black community in Parsons.

Hear the Elders Speak is organized by Labette Community College communication major Lindsey Curtis.

Admission to the event is free. Free-will donations will be accepted to support the after-school group camp at the high school.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase traditional African American desserts during the event. Community members are encouraged to attend, listen, learn, and celebrate the history that has shaped Parsons.
