LCC Students Present Research at Statewide Psychology Conference
PARSONS, KS — Ten students from Labette Community College attended the annual KCKCC Research Conference in Psychological Science on April 3, 2026, held at the Kansas City Kansas Community College campus in Kansas City, Kansas.
The group was accompanied by DeAnna Huffman, associate professor of psychology, and Rebeka Crawford, assistant professor of exercise science. Five LCC students were selected to present their research at the conference, which brings together more than 250 students from community colleges and universities across Kansas each year.
Students delivering oral presentations included:
Samantha Noble — “OCD”
Meagan Hosier — “Cognitive Distortions Are a Key Component in the Etiology and Maintenance of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)”
Students presenting poster sessions included:
Kristen Park Nation — “Beyond the Spectrum: Understanding the Interplay of ADHD, ODD and Nutrition in Autism”
Calisto Easter — “Bipolar Depressive Disorder”
Neely Baker — “Forensic Psychology: An Introduction”
The conference provides students an opportunity to share original research, engage with peers in the field, and gain experience presenting in an academic setting.
“I am very happy that I was able to attend this year’s event with 10 LCC psychology students,” said DeAnna Huffman. “It is wonderful to see my students’ excitement to advance their knowledge in the field of psychology and present their personal research. I absolutely love watching my students grow personally and academically by participating in the annual conference.”
