About the Foundation

Purpose

Our purpose is to support programs of the College by raising private gifts from alumni, friends, and corporations. Gifts are used for:

  • Scholarships
  • Faculty Professional Development
  • College Departments
  • Student Activities
  • Community Outreach
  • Current Operations

Your gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. The Foundation is a Kansas non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service.

Our financial records are in compliance with pronouncements of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). An annual audit of our finances is available for public inspection at the Foundation office, 200 S. 14th Street, Parsons, Kansas 67357, as are all required state and federal reports and filings.

Types of Gifts

Gifts with no stipulation as to purpose or use are unrestricted. You may restrict your gift for a designated purpose. A gift may be expendable - immediately usable for current purposes. Or, it may be retained, perhaps as an endowment gift to be invested and held permanently for the income derived.

Gifts other than cash include:

Marketable Property
Securities, real property, and salable personal property.

Gifts-in-Kind
Gifts to be used in the form in which they are given, such as art objects, books, and equipment.

Rights and Insurance
Royalties, copyrights, trademark rights, and insurance policies naming the Foundation as a beneficiary.

Gifts-in-Trust
Resources given in exchange for a lifetime income to you or some you name, after which this income will be used by the Foundation according to your wishes.

Memorial and Honor Gifts
Gifts made "in memory of" or "in honor of" persons will be used as unrestricted income, unless otherwise specified by you.

Temporary Funds
Non- invested funds expendable for designated or undesignated purposes, often in the year the gift is made.

Bequests
You may arrange by Will that a specified dollar amount or specified percentage of your estate will be gifted to the Foundation. You may also arrange, after the death of a named beneficiary, that some or all of the amount the named beneficiary would have received will be gifted to the Foundation.
