LCC Hendershot Gallery Hosts ChaGlaz Art Show
April 4, 2018 |
Parsons, KS- The Labette Community College Hendershot Gallery is the current host of the ChaGlaz Designs in Glass art show until April 20. ChaGlaz Designs in Glass, a Parsons based glass art studio of Charlean and Keith Wilson, began more than 10 years ago as a hobby. Today, the couple sell their glass designs on the web and at art shows.
Mrs. Wilson, a Parsons native, has had a fascination and love of glass for many years. She began working with stained glass, later followed by classes in fusing glass which led to her purchase of her own glass materials and kiln. The couple have attended glass blowing classes in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Wilson, also a native of Parsons, has also taken classes in marble making and glassblowing on a torch. He has been demonstrating marble making at the annual Katy Days festival for several years. The couple create glass works such as marbles, jewelry, and large vessels like sinks and baptismal font bowls.
The art exhibit is available for the public during special viewing hours; Monday-Thursday, 8am-6pm and Friday, 8am-4:30pm. A public Meet & Greet of the Wilsons will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 12-1:30pm in the LCC Hendershot Gallery. The gallery is located on the second floor of the Main building, 200. S. 14th Street, Parsons.
