Event to raise awareness for foster care needs and benefit the TFI Kid's Fund April Board Meeting
April 17, 2019 |
Parsons, KS—In observation of National Foster Care Awareness month, the Labette Community College Public Relations class is partnering with Remnant Café for a family friendly super-hero themed event on Saturday, May 4th from 5 to 7 p.m at Remnant Café in downtown Parsons. "Foster Care Aware- Be the Hero They Need” is designed to raise awareness for the need for more foster care homes in Kansas and raise funds to benefit the TFI Kids Fund.
Local children are encouraged to dress in super hero costumes for the event featuring a costume party, super hero games, face painting, a super hero photo booth, and super hero prizes while supplies last. Attendees may come and go, enjoying their favorite Remnant Café drinks while learning more about foster care from a representative from KVC. Remnant Café is donating 10% of the night's proceeds to the TFI Kids Fund, a nonprofit that provides financial support to foster families.
According to kansas.kvc.org, "Nationally, about 428,000 youth are in foster care. In Kansas, 7,530 youth are in foster care as of September 2018 according to the Kansas Department for Children and Families. As this number is increasing, the need for loving foster parents is greater than ever."
