LCC to Host Manufacturing Day
October 1, 2019 |
Parsons, KS- Labette Community College will be the host site for a Manufacturing Day, a annual nation-wide event to showcase the potential or modern manufacturing and foster interest in manufacturing careers.
Modern manufacturing environments are commonly thought of a dark, dangerous factories designed for low-skilled workers. Manufacturing Day addresses this misperception by giving manufacturers an opportunity to show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is to the public. Highlights about the field of manufacturing include:
- Manufacturing is technologically advanced, with ample use of automation, 3-D printing, robots, and screen technology.
- Manufacturers have the highest job tenure in the private sector.
- Nearly 90 percent of manufacturing workers have medical benefits.
The manufacturing day event is meant for anyone curious about modern manufacturing in the Southeast Kansas area.
LCC Director of Workforce Education, Ross Harper said, “This event is a great opportunity students and the public to visit with manufacturers. Those attending will have first-hand opportunity to speak with businesses about the product demonstration and employment opportunities.”
Manufacturing Day will take place on Friday, October 25, from 10am-12pm. The event will be held at the Labette Community College Workforce Training Center, 1520 Flynn Drive, Parsons. This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact, Ross Harper at rossharper@labette.edu.
