Message from the LCC President

June 3, 2020

Good folks of LCC,

We, as an LCC family, mourn the death of George Floyd and all those who have lost their lives because of systemic racism. I may not have personally experienced racial injustice, however, I stand with the black and brown community- our students, staff, and community. We must work together for equality and justice.

The mission of our college is to provide students with quality learning opportunities in a supportive environment. We aspire to be an institution of diversity and are committed to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment valuing the dignity, worth, and potential of all persons.

LCC students, although you may not be here on campus, please know we are with you. If you are hurting, please reach out. If you are a student and need additional support, please contact our Vice President of Student Affairs at tammyf@labette.edu. The VP will help provide you with access to services to give you a safe space to discuss your feelings. LCC employees have access to additional resources by contacting Human Resources at janicec@labette.edu.

I encourage you all to take time today to look for opportunities to empathetically listen to one another, and find meaningful ways to overcome these injustices.
