October 20, 2020

Parsons, KS- The Labette Community College Tau Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has been selected to receive an Honors in Action grant in the amount of $1,000 for the 2020 Honors in Action project. Phi Theta Kappa is the honor society of the two year college.

Phi Theta Kappa and the Mellon Foundation teamed up to fund the 2020 HIA grants. The Tau Theta Chapter at LCC is a regionally and nationally ranked honor society.

The Honors in Action grant will allow the Tau Theta Chapter to research the impact of COVID on the environment and specifically animals.  The chapter is developing a service project that will connect area schools with virtual presentations from zoos to support their curriculum. Through the grant, Tau Theta will be able to pay for the presentations for classrooms.

Teachers or schools interested in participating in the presentations should contact PTK Advisor, Tammy Fuentez at tammyf@labette.edu.
