LCC President, Dr. Mark Watkins, and LCC Executive Director of Foundation and Alumni, Lindi Forbes stand with Ron Eads. Mr. Eads established the Ron & Dr. Janet Eads Endowed Scholarship as an honor to his late wife, Janet.

Parsons, KS- The Labette Community College Foundation & Alumni Association is the recipient of a new endowed scholarship in the name of Ron and, the late, Dr. Janet Eads.

Mr. & Dr. Eads were both longtime employees of Labette Community College. “I am a teacher at heart, always have been. This scholarship is a way to honor my late wife, Janet and her work for Labette Community College and it’s students,” Eads said.

Dr. Janet Eads worked in the LCC Financial Aid department and later became the Dean of Student Services during her twenty-five year tenure.

Ron Eads, a US Navy Veteran, taught numerous classes at LCC including serving as the Cooperative Industrial Training Coordinator. He worked closely with Veterans Affairs in order to help local Veterans enroll and take courses. He was instrumental in establishing night courses geared toward Veterans.

“The Eads endowed scholarship will be a lasting legacy and continue to help students each semester,” said LCC Foundation Executive Director, Lindi Forbes. “Ron’s greatest wish is to assist students with limited resources, especially people of color. He told me that so many systems are stacked against them so he wanted to offer something to help them better their lives, and there is no better resource than access to higher education.”
