Labette Community College Seeks Nominations

February 2, 2023

Labette Community College (LCC) Foundation and Alumni Association is seeking nominations for two prestigious awards presented annually – the Cardinal Citation Award (Citee) and the Distinguished Alumni Award for 2023.

The Cardinal Citee Award is the most prestigious annual award presented to an individual jointly by the college and the LCC Alumni Association at Commencement in May. Nominees for the Cardinal Citee must have an association with the college but do not have to be a graduate nor have attended the college. The nominee must be living and have made outstanding contributions to their profession, community, state, or country during a lifetime of service.

The Distinguished Alumni Award was developed by the LCC Foundation and Alumni Association Board to honor alumni that have proved to be successful individuals within their communities, careers, and families. The LCC Distinguished Alumni Award will be given annually to a living graduate who has distinguished themselves professionally, brought honor to Labette Community College, and/or made significant contributions of time and philanthropy to the College and/or their community.

Award Criteria for Distinguished Alumni includes:

  • Must have attended Labette Community College for one year (2 semesters).
  • Nominations may come from faculty, staff, alumni or the community at-large.
  • Selection shall be made by the President of the College.
  • Nominees not selected may be reconsidered the following year.
  • Must be present to accept the award at a luncheon given in their honor the day of commencement.
  • Up to four awards may be presented annually.

The recipients for 2023 will be honored at a luncheon on May 12th, 2023, and at commencement that evening.

An individual may nominate more than one person for either award. Forms may be picked up in the Alumni office inside the Cardinal Event Center, 1306 Main, on the Parsons campus.
