Labette Community College signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Labette Community College will receive a total of $812,240.  At least 50 percent will be disbursed to students totaling $406,120.

The student portion of the CARES Act (HEERF) have been depleted. At this time, no more funds will be disbursed. This is our final report.

As of October 7, 2020, $407,900 CARES Act (HEERF) Student funds and $1780 CARES Act (HEERF) Institutional funds has been disbursed to 428 Labette Community College students.
Labette Community College estimates to serve at least 410 students with the Emergency relief funds.
Methods used by Labette Community College to determine if a student is eligible to receive emergency relief funds.

Students must complete the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund Application (HEERF) posted on the labette.edu website. The fall 2020 application will go live on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

Purpose: To provide emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruptions of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care)

Eligible students: Eligible for Title IV Funds (Pell Grant, Subsidized Direct Loans, Unsubsidized Direct Loans, FSEOG, and FWS) Students must have a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid on file with Labette Community College (FAFSA).

Students must have Enrollment in the fall 2020 to be eligible.

Student must be currently Degree and/ or Certificate seeking.

Students must making Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Courses must go toward student’s declared major or certificate.

Students who were enrolled exclusively in an online program on March 13, 2020, the date of the President’s Proclamation, “Declaring a National Emergency Concerning the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak” are not eligible for emergency financial aid grants.

If you have already been awarded CARES funds, you are not eligible to receive another award.

Frequency of Payments: One time payments will be made directly to the students that qualify. A tentative payment will be made on October 7th.

Funds will continue to be disbursed until all funds have been depleted.  Grants will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.  Labette Community College can make adjustments to this plan as seen needed to benefit students that have been impacted by the disruptions of campus operations do to coronavirus.

Application Deadline: 130 Applications, funds have been depleted, or September 25, 2020. Funds will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

How HEERF Grants will be calculated based on the following information:
The maximum amount HEERF Grant a student can receive is $1000.

Students Enrolled full time, based on EFC and a valid FAFSA will receive:
0-5576 EFC=$500

5577-16741 EFC =$400
(16741 is the max Pell budget for all students except less than ½ time enrollment status)

16742-999999 EFC=$300

Students Enrolled 3/4 time, based on EFC and a valid FAFSA will receive:
0-5576 EFC=$450
