Indie Lens Pop Up Screening-Peace Officer

Parsons, KS-Labette Community College and Ozark Public Television will present a free film screening of the Indie Lens Pop-Up Series, Peace Officer. This film documents an increasingly tense relationship between law enforcement and the public.

This documentary as seen through the eyes of someone who’s been on both sides: William “Dub” Lawrence, a former sheriff who established Utah’s first SWAT team. He had the experience of seeing that same unit kill his son-in-law in a controversial standoff 30 years later. Now a private investigator, Dub seeks the truth in this case and other officer-involved shootings.

A free preview screening of Peace Officer will be held Tuesday, April 19th at 6:30pm in the Labette Community College Thiebaud Theatre. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion with special guest speaker Jason Sharp, Parsons’ Chief of Police.
