Meet the Patels

November 30, 2016

Parsons, KS- Labette Community College and Ozark Public Television will present a Community Cinema Meet the Patels. This film documents a 30 year old, Ravi Patel, in a romantic comedy of culture and love.

Ravi is almost 30, an actor, and, worst of all to his traditional Hindu parents, still unmarried. After he breaks up with his white girlfriend, Ravi submits to his parents’ wishes and allows them to play matchmaker. The true-life romantic comedy explores the influences of culture and identity on the most intense, personal, and important part of one’s life-love.

A free preview screening of Meet the Patels will be held Tuesday, December 6 at 4:30pm in the Cardinal Café. Preceding the film screening, Indian-themed food will be served at 4:00pm. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Meet the Patels, is a film that premieres on Independent Lens on PBS on Monday, December 26 at 9pm. For more information, visit communitycinema.org or contact Kalynn Amundson at 620-820-1138.
