Labette Community College Recognized with Top Honors
at PBL National Leadership Conference in Anaheim

Parsons, Kansas, June 28, 2018 - More than 2,000 of America’s best and brightest college students traveled to Maryland to Elevate Their Future as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $95,000 in cash awards.
The Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference was held June 23–27 in Baltimore. Participants from across the United States attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events.
Labette Community College students Carolyn Cassel, Davida Fontelroy, Chandler Gravett, Kelsey Green and Michelle Green along with their Advisor, Cathy Kibler, attended the 76th PBL National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The students attended events such as workshops, networking opportunities and campaign rally’s to elect the 2018-2019 Executive Board for PBL while at the conference in addition to competing against both two and four year College and University students.
Davida Fontelroy and Michelle Green received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program on June 26. Fontelroy competed in Business Law and earned third place. Green competed in Entrepreneurship Concepts and received seventh place. Gravett preceded as President over the Kansas State Chapter meeting.
“I am so very proud of all of my students! These students deserve to be recognized for their outstanding performance at the National PBL Conference,” said Cathy Kibler, PBL Advisor. “It is very rewarding to see my students succeed! I believe that they are definitely going to be major contributors to the business world as well as their communities. They represented LCC and the state of Kansas extremely well.”
The awards were part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.
