Labette Community College was the recipient of grant funding from the Parsons Area Community Foundationtotaling $10,000. LCC purchased smartboards for three classrooms, which totaled $10,635. The grant paid for $6,000 of this amount and LCC paid the remaining $4,635. LCC has integrated the new technology into classrooms, bringing student learning into the 21st century. Smartboards enrich curriculum by turning a typical lecture into an interactive lecture which more effectively engages the student.

microfilm machineThe LCC library, with the help of PACF grant funds, replaced an inoperable machine with a new microfilm machine. The microfilm, which is available for community use, totaled $7,344 with the LCC Library being awarded $4,000 from PACF. Patrons who are doing genealogical or other historical research using old equipment could not print their findings, therefore having to take pictures of the screen. The new machine allows patrons to save their images to a USB drive and can be read from both microfiche and microfilm.
