May 12, 2022 |
Parsons, KS- The preliminary numbers for the 2022 Labette Community College Foundation Auction for Scholarships raised $56,252. The goal was set at $55,000. The funds raised will be used to fund student scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year.
This amount is the most raised since the auction began in 2000. The second highest grossing auction was in 2018, raising $53,209. In 23 years, the auctions have raised over $870,000 for student scholarships.
The 23rd annual auction was supported by 183 bidders, 38 sponsors, and 177 auction items donated by 102 donors.
“I cannot thank our community enough,” said LCC Foundation Executive Director, Lindi Forbes. “We were thrilled to host an in-person event again this year after having the last two online. I believe the community was ready to attend an in-person event too. This was demonstrated by our record attendance and proceeds. Because of the generosity of our guests, we will be able to help numerous students achieve their dream of going to college.”
The annual auction for scholarships was held as an in-person event for the first time in two years since the COVID-19 pandemic began. This year’s auction featured live and silent auctions as well as an online auction.
