LCC's Impact on Community Leadership

The recent Parsons Chamber of Commerce banquet honored several individuals for their contributions to the community, all of whom have strong connections to Labette Community College (LCC). These ties underscore LCC's pivotal role in fostering community development.

Award Recipients and Their LCC Connections:

Courtney Stangle
Courtney Stangle: Recognized as Volunteer of the Year, Stangle served on the LCC Foundation and Alumni Board, contributing to the college's mission and supporting its initiatives. She also supports the annual Auction for Scholarships and attends LCC events.
J.R. Keene
J.R. Keene: Honored as Business of the Year for his venture, Outsider’s Tacos and More, Keene is a current member of the LCC Foundation and Alumni Board and takes classes at LCC. He also donates to and attends the Auction for Scholarships and other college events.
Don and Jane Alexander
Don and Jane Alexander: Recipients of the Zetmeir Legacy Award, the Alexanders met while attending LCC. Their educational foundation at LCC contributed to their personal and professional development, leading to their long-standing commitment to the community. Alexander Manufacturing continually supports the LCC Auction for Scholarships and is a member of the LCC Booster Club.
Debbie Lamb
Debbie Lamb: received the Chamber Citation for her 50 years of service to the city of Parsons. She is a 1979 graduate of LCC and was recognized with a Distinguished Alumni Award from LCC in 2021 for her outstanding professional and community service contributions. She has also supported the Auction for Scholarships and attends college events.

 

“The achievements of these award recipients highlight the integral role LCC plays in nurturing individuals who go on to make significant contributions to the community,” said Lindi Forbes, Executive Director of the Foundation and Alumni Association. “"Labette Community College provides more than just a high-quality education—it offers students the opportunity to engage with people from all walks of life, experience different cultures, and build lifelong connections. The interactions they have, both in and out of the classroom, help shape them into well-rounded individuals who go on to lead successful lives and give back to their communities."

Through its comprehensive educational programs and community engagement, LCC has continued to be a vital force in building and sustaining a vibrant and thriving community for over 100 years. Labette Community College provides accessible and affordable education with over 30 degree and certificate programs. Beyond academics, LCC engages in workforce development and adult education, aligning its offerings with the community's evolving demands.
